Andrew came to Cherokee Creek in the summer of 2010 after graduating from Toccoa Falls College with a degree in Youth Ministry.  His journey began at CCBS as a flex staff, gradually working his way up to 1st shift floor manager, and became the Chattooga Group primary counselor in the winter of 2014.

Another one of the many roles that Andrew has taken on at CCBS is coaching in our health and recreation department.  He has served as the basketball and golf coach for the past two seasons.  He enjoys the opportunity to teach the boys teamwork, sportsmanship, and help build their self esteem in an area where many times they feel they don’t have the ability to succeed.

One of the most applicable parts of the CCBS Medicine Wheel that Andrew uses with the boys and in his own life is: “Be Open to Outcome.”  He has seen this simple phrase teach students how to value the here and now and the people they are sharing it with.  It also allows the boys to learn patience and delayed gratification as they wait for the outcome to unfold.

We are so thankful that Andrew is on staff with us at Cherokee Creek Boys School.

Let me share a middle school story…

“Middle school for me was all about Saturday mornings. While most kids were waking up to watch Scooby-Doo and Power Rangers, I was waking up before the sun to spend the morning with my dad. The morning consisted of one of two things, either going to yard sales / auctions and/or chopping wood of the winter. At times it was tough to crawl out of bed so early in the morning, but it taught me the meaning of hard work. Plus, now I can’t drive by a flea market or antique store without wanting to stop.”
