Valentine’s Day: A Time for Love, Healing and Self-Care for All of Us

Celebrating Love That Includes Self-Care, Connection and Personal Growth
Valentine’s Day often brings pressure … the idea that love must look a certain way, that relationships should be perfect, or that we need grand gestures to prove our worth.
But love is much more than romance.
At Cherokee Creek Boys School, we believe in a deeper definition of love … one that includes self-care, connection and personal growth.
Our school integrates the Medicine Wheel, a powerful framework created by cultural anthropologist, Angeles Arrien, into our character development. This wheel is built upon four key values: Truth, Wisdom, Love and Courage.
Love, known as The Healer, means standing up for what has heart and meaning. It reminds us that love is not just about others … it starts from within.
This Valentine’s Day, instead of stressing over expectations, we encourage everyone … students, parents and families … to embrace love as a healer by practicing self-care and fostering meaningful connections.
“Human beings are essentially here for two purposes – to learn about and express love, and to create. We learn about love in all our relationships.”
– Angeles Arrien
