Supporting Boys with ADHD: The Cherokee Creek Approach

At Cherokee Creek Boys School, we believe that ADHD is not a disability but rather a unique ability that can be nurtured through the right environment and support.

Our learning community is designed to bring balance to a boy’s life socially, emotionally and academically.
At CCBS, we have created a tailored academic environment that meets the needs of students with a variety of learning needs, including Attention Deficit Disorder / Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD).
Addressing the Unique Challenges of ADHD in Teens
Teenage boys with ADHD face significant challenges as academic and social expectations increase. They may struggle with organization, time management, and maintaining focus on complex tasks. Emotional regulation can also be difficult, leading to heightened responses and impulsive behaviors.
At Cherokee Creek, we recognize these challenges and offer targeted support to help boys navigate this developmental stage and develop skills that will help them as they grow into adulthood.

Creating an Optimal ADD/ADHD Learning Environment
Our small student-to-teacher ratios ensure individualized attention, while classrooms are designed to minimize distractions and offer multiple seating options.
This is further complemented by our outdoor learning spaces, where the serene setting of creeks, and forests becomes an integral part of the educational experience.
Our small class sizes allow for close support, immediate feedback and the opportunity for students to learn about themselves as learners. Upon graduation, our students understand their learning preferences and have skills to identify and advocate for themselves in future learning environments.
Encouraging Growth Through Positive Reinforcement and Mentorship
Our team works closely with our students to remind them that they are capable learners and leaders … both in and out of the classroom. Through our character development and social skills curriculum we help students to develop specific skills to pave the way for their successful future.
