BOTO’s Big Ride Crosses the Finish Line

Team BOTO biked 350 miles … AND … raised awareness and funds for adolescent mental health!
On September 23rd, BOTO’s Big Ride Bike Team embarked on a fun and challenging 350-mile bike ride from Pittsburgh PA to Washington DC.
The goal of the ride was to raise awareness about adolescent mental health issues and to raise funds for the CCBS Fire Keeper’s Scholarship Fund. The Scholarship Fund allows CCBS families to access the care that their sons need, and makes a difference in people’s lives!
Despite some rain, mud and cold weather throughout the journey, the bike team’s spirits remained high and they did it! Led by Executive Director, David LePere, they tackled 60 to 80 miles a day for five days, making their way through Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland to DC!
They crossed the Mason-Dixon Line, biked through some tough terrain, tackled big hills, enjoyed winding mountain views and finished triumphantly on the National Mall, where they were greeted by cheering CCBS families, staff and students.
Every team needs back up and support … and BOTO’s team was grateful to have Jason and Thompson Cooper driving the SAG Wagon / Chase van. They drove ahead of the team, meeting them at each rest stop and overnight location to help them stock up with supplies and snacks while cheering them along the way.

And here’s the
GREAT NEWS!
YOU CAN STILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE in the life of a CCBS family and their son – WITHOUT having to ride a bike for 350 miles! (LOL)

Yo! It’s Ryan! I was in school today and got the idea to check the blog and see what’s been up since I’d graduated! I miss you all so much and can’t wait to visit in November! I’m joining my school’s mountain-biking team and I’m pretty sure that’ll be fun too! Great to see some familiar faces!
