Claire was born and raised in Columbia, SC and received a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from Clemson University. While completing her Bachelor’s Degree, she traveled to Italy to study the Reggio Emilia Approach, an educational philosophy focused on student-centered learning. She then worked as a teacher in classrooms for students with emotional and behavioral struggles.

Claire continued with her education at Clemson University and received a Masters of Education (M.Ed.) and an Educational Specialist Degree (Ed.S.) in Counselor Education with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Starting in January of 2020, Claire began her journey at Cherokee Creek, first with her practicum, then in the Fall of 2020, returned face-to-face to complete her internship as well.

During this time, Claire officially joined the Cherokee Creek team full-time, helping design and implement our weekend Passages transition program for graduating students. Claire also provided intentional one-on-one guided character development support to students as well as psycho-educational group experiences.

Claire is so excited to be continuing at Cherokee Creek, taking on the role of Currahee Therapist. During her free time, Claire enjoys hiking, reading, painting, experimenting in the kitchen, and time with her family.

Let me share a middle school story…

“Looking back on my middle school years, the first memory that comes to mind is meeting my two closest friends … in Spanish class and art class. We would spend most of our days laughing and goofing off in class, constantly getting in trouble for talking too much. While middle school overall was a difficult time in my life and one filled with hard transitions, I am extremely grateful to have developed such incredible and enduring friendships during those formative years.“
