The Way Defined

A JOURNEY OF SELF DISCOVERY BEGINS HERE...

Cherokee Creek Boys School is a learning community

that challenges boys and their families
to discover what is real and true
about themselves
and the world around them.

The Cherokee Creek Curriculum creates a PATH of self-discovery by weaving together...

•    Personal Enrichment Opportunities

•    Academics

•    Therapeutic Strategies

•    Health and Recreation

These four components of the program are woven togther into a personalized growth plan for a well-rounded and unique experience for each child. Integrating these elements into the fabric of community life at Cherokee Creek is the essence of our character development program and true experiential learning!

We are able to craft a growth plan unique to the needs of each student by using our knowledge of adolescent development, learning style assessments, educational / psychological evaluations and conversations with   families, educational consultants, our therapists, counselors and teachers.

This plan is documented on a STUDENT PROFILE worksheet when he arrives at Cherokee Creek. The PROFILE is revised throughout his stay to assess growth, new therapeutic and/or educational needs and evaluate readiness for graduation. It is also a helpful tool to educate parents and educational consultants about the journey of the student.

We use the Medicine Wheel for our STUDENT PROFILE worksheet to symbolize the ongoing nature of self-discovery at Cherokee Creek and throughout life.  Each of the four quadrants of this circle offers lessons to build character and create balanced, healthy living.

Our students will begin a new journey at CCBS and will continue their journey with expanded insight and new tools as they graduate and return home.

Education is not the filling of a pail,
but the lighting of a fire.
